Beauty and the Beast Newsletter

  • Written by:

Welcome to the first ‘Beauty and the Beast’ newsletter, which we are pleased to launch with the news everyone has been waiting for: our cast list! After weeks of auditions and call backs, and much agonising on the part of the B& the B team, we are pleased to announce the cast for this year’s Caistor Grammar School production of ‘Beauty and the Beast’.

Thank you to everyone who auditioned and congratulations to everyone who has been given a part: welcome to the team and keep your eyes on the ‘Beauty and the Beast’ notice board for news of first rehearsals.

We are also recruiting help behind the scenes with costumes and props, see below for our current ‘wish list’ of items and please contact Katherine if you think you can help in any way.

We’ll be using these newsletters to keep you up to date with rehearsal schedules and information about tickets when they go on sale, and maybe even a few teaser photos from rehearsals once we get underway so keep posted!

Thank you

The Beauty and the Beast Team

Materials Wanted

Even before casting was confirmed, we had started the process of creating the 70+ costumes that will be needed for the production.  If you have any of the following items that you no longer require, Mrs Jago would be very glad to receive your donation.

  • School Trousers
  • School Blazers
  • Plain shirts (including white school shirts)
  • Lace up shoes
  • Ladies Plain flat shoes
  • Football socks
  • Duvet Covers (especially plain or floral)
  • Curtains (especially plain or with blackout lining)
  • Knee Length” Riding” Boots (especially Mens)
  • Ladies Size 7 or 8 Riding style boots
  • Dress Shirts
  • Waistcoats
  • Morning Dress

Helpers Wanted

We would still like to hear from anyone who would be willing to help with sewing costumes, or making props.

Only basic sewing skills are required. All costumes are pre-cut, and a made-up garment is provided for sewers to follow as an example; usually nothing more complicated than sewing a simple apron. All fabric/cotton etc., is provided. You are able to sew at home at a time that is convenient to you, and do as much or as little as you are able to help us with. We can even arrange to drop off and collect from you.

We would also like help with making props. Again, this can be nothing more complicated than working under the direction of someone else with the ideas, or taking on the design and creation of a specific prop.  The choice is yours.

It’s great to be involved and if you are able to help, we would like to hear from you. Please contact the Producer, Katherine Jago –, or on the school number, 01472 851250.
