English Department’s Public Speaking Competition for Year 7 and 8.

Congratulations to all teams who reached the finals of the English Department’s Public Speaking Competition for Year 7 and 8.

It was a marvellous afternoon of very impressive public speaking judged by Governor, Mrs Julia Sedman, experienced Sixth Form Public Speaker and Secretary to the School Council Jin Jin Guo and Mr Hale.

The winning team was 8Z consisting of Beatrice Duckitt (Chairperson), Imogen Laycock (Main Speaker) and Robert Hewis (Proposer of the vote of thanks).  Individual cups went as follows to Best Chairperson, Alex Sedman 8X, Best Main Speaker Charlie Maxson 8X, and Best Proposed of the Vote of Thanks Sophie McCulloch 8Y.

Great credit goes to all the teachers in the English Department and especially Mr Rob Harris who organised the event.

A performance of the recently  created ‘LOV’ play was also performed during the afternoon.  Well done to all individuals involved and thanks to Mr Richard Davy for organising this.
