On Wednesday 26th February, Y7 were off timetable all day to take part in a Careers Detective Day. The day began with an interesting introduction by Mr Hopkins, who talked about his Career journey so far. They then worked as teams to complete challenges during the day. After allocating team members different roles, some interviewed members of staff about their career paths, whilst others researched careers facts, to try and gain points from a big careers quiz. The day ended with presentations from each group about what they had learnt during the day. Students coped well with the challenges of working alongside people they didn’t know well, trying to communicate with people working on different tasks and working to tight deadlines. They all agreed that the day was a useful way to begin their Careers Education here at CGS and they were grateful to all the staff who gave up their time to help with the day. They are now looking forward to finding out more about different Career opportunities in their PSHE lessons and assemblies.
