On 6th June, year 10 physics students paid a visit to Jodrell Bank Observatory as part of their GCSE course.
The day consisted of a number of varied activities, including a seminar on electromagnetic waves and a very enjoyable and informative planetarium demonstration of the structure of the cosmos and the life cycles of stars. Students also had to complete their own investigations using facilities around the site.
There was a lot of work to be done and all students worked very hard in what turned out to be a very busy day although the sunshine made the outdoor activities all the more enjoyable. The visit was a great success and with still more work to be completed back at school will contribute to their understanding of Astrophysics.
