We are pleased to report that twenty-five sixth form students have successfully completed their Gold Practice Expedition in the Dark Peak area of Derbyshire between Friday 30th June and Monday 3rd July 2017.
The students experienced a good mix of weather, from brilliant summer sunshine to poor visibility conditions on the tops of the hills. This tested all their navigational training, fitness, determination and personal resilience in full.
Volunteer supervisors were impressed with the teamwork and effort displayed by the students as they journeyed across challenging terrain and implemented their campcraft skills.
The students will now go on to attempt their Assessed Expedition in the Lake District next week, and we wish them luck.
I am very grateful to our team of adult expedition supervisors who have so willingly shared their time and expertise in supporting the students’ preparation and training for the Assessed Expedition.
