Younger students will soon be taking their exams. In this unusual year, these will be more like in class tests. The Heads of Section have given some good advice to students about revision and doing their best. We’re encouraging students to develop their understanding of what revision techniques work for them. Some honest self-reflection about what did and didn’t work last time can help students move closer to their goals. Mrs Ellerby has produced some advice for students, which she shared in an assembly to Year 8 this morning. If you’d like to read it, or pin it to your fridge, noticeboard, etc. then please feel free to do so. [link]
InvestIN – careers update
InvestIN are again running their programme of summer internships both in London and live online for students aged 15-18. I would like to remind you that CGS is an INvestIN partner school and therefore students can get 10% off any InvestIN programme with the code CAISTOR10. There are also up to three bursaries per term for eligible students. In order to qualify for an InvestIN bursary students must satisfy one or more of the following criteria:
If your child wishes to apply for a bursary, please ask them to email Kathryn.email@example.com detailing which programme they wish to attend and she will contact InvestIN on your behalf to confirm that one or more of the above criteria applies to your child.
In the current climate, it is difficult for students to gain relevant work experience and the InvetstIN programmes allow students to gain insights, which they can talk about on job, apprenticeship and university applications
Our annual parent survey closes on Sunday 9 May at noon. If you would like to complete it (and almost 200 have already done so) then it takes about 6 minutes. The governors, senior leadership team and I try to make changes based on your and students’ suggestions. Here’s the link: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/BVZ5SSS
Local visits consent form
As we look forward to running our trips, visits, etc. next year, there’s an important general consent form for you to complete about allowing your child to leave the site on a ‘low risk’ excursion within 25 miles of CGS. The consent means that we can reduce the amount of paperwork we send to you when running a ‘low risk’ trip. More details are in the letter. Thank you to Mrs Southwick in her role as Educational Visits Coordinator (EVC) for gearing us up for next year.
Enjoy your weekend,
