Headmaster’s Letter 7th May

Posted on 7th May 2020

Dear Parent,

As you will be aware, the Prime Minister will be making a series of announcements on Sunday about the steps that he intends to take to enable some aspects of society to emerge from lockdown. One of his announcements is likely to explain his plan to reopen schools.

There has been a significant amount of speculation in the media about what this will look like. Very little of this has been helpful. And even though I have been trying to devise various return scenarios with the Senior Leadership Team, until I receive the guidelines about how this will work, any preparatory work that I put in place will be limited.

Many of you will be asking questions, and possibly have concerns about how the return will work. I will write to you next Friday to give you an insight into our evolving plans at CGS. Please be reassured that safety will be our primary concern.

In the meantime, I’ll be holding a Q&A on Twitter tonight (Thursday) between 7pm and 8pm. The Twitter feed is @Caistor_GS.

VE Day

Tomorrow marks Victory in Europe Day, Mrs Dowthwaite, the Head of History, has distributed an email to all students. I’m inevitably disappointed that we could not acknowledge the date as a School. If nothing, tomorrow will remind us what can be achieved once ‘normality’ is declared.

Be Aware

Finally, I’m pointing you towards a website that gives advice on how you can set security devices on mobile devices. https://parenthub.thekeysupport.com/parent-online-safety-zone/device-controls.html

Best wishes for the Bank Holiday weekend,

Alistair Hopkins
