Another big thanks to all those that participated in the Hour of Code on Wednesday 18th December 2013. As a result, Google have given us 5 free Raspberry Pis (worth over £100). I’m now looking for a few small teams to come up with some cool ideas to get the most out of them. There were over 15,000 young people taking part in the Hour of Code nationally and the official UK Hour of Code this year starts on March 3rd 2014 so look out for that.
Note: Computing Club starts Friday 31st at lunchtime (T2 – 12:15-13:00) and every Friday after that.
Caistor Grammar School and the Computing Department held its first Hour of Code today. Around 40 students from years 7,8 and 9 attended the lunchtime event and between them nearly 3000 lines of code were written!
Look out for the Computing clubs after Christmas where we will look at the Raspberry Pi and bring our programming to life.
If you would like to find out more about the Hour of Code take a look at this video. You can also visit www.code.org for further information.
My thanks go to the three Computing Leaders who offered their assistance during the hour, Mr K Smy for his support and of course to all those that wrote some code.
Keep on coding!
Mr Thomas Smith
