On Monday 21st October, 10 intrepid students form CGS, accompanied by Mrs Taylor and Mrs Craddock, set off for China with staff and students from Lincoln Christ’s Hospital School. The visit proved to be the adventure of a lifetime for all involved, with students immersed in the Chinese culture by staying with host families.
A busy programme included lessons in Tangshan Foreign Language School and a day out on the Great Wall of China, from fan dancing to football, calligraphy to teaching English lessons about Christmas. Our hosts made us welcome with great generosity and hospitality. We departed from Tangshan on Wednesday 30th October to spend two days in Beijing, enjoying the pandas at Beijing Zoo, as well as “crazy chips” (chips, ice-cream and chocolate sauce), the grandeur of the Forbidden City and bargaining in a local market.
With many new friendships formed and amazing experiences to tell, we returned home on Friday 1st November as true “International Ambassadors”. A huge “Thank you” to everyone at LCHS, CGS and in Tangshan who helped to make the experience so incredible.
