Sixth Form theatre trip to see a production of ‘Far From The Madding Crowd’

Posted on 21st November 2016

On Saturday, 19th November, the English Department led a Sixth Form theatre trip to see a production of ‘Far From The Madding Crowd’, by Thomas Hardy, as part of their literary study of ‘Love through the Ages’. Perhaps one of the most endearing and English of Hardy’s novels, it tells the story of young farmer Gabriel Oak and his love for, and pursuit of, the elusive and headstrong Bathsheba Everdene. With live music and their trademark ‘ensemble style’, the Hotbuckle theatre company brought a classic tale of tragedy and true love energetically to life through a skilful combination of pathos and humour.
