Norman castle tours, ‘Meeting the Medievals’ and ice-creams in the bailey
Students from Year 7 were immersed in history at Conisbrough Castle near Doncaster on Friday 9th June. A day which was designed to support students’ understanding of the main developments in castle construction during the medieval period. The visit included tours by Mr. Croft, Mrs. Dowthwaite and Mr. McTernan of the keep, walls and bailey for students to busily gather notes for their final assessment task of the year. They also had a hands-on experience investigating artefacts, to discover the various medieval people who were part of castle life. The sun shone after a doubtful forecast and lunch and ice-creams were able to be enjoyed in the castle bailey.
