All of Year 10 students have received a copy of their exam timetable including a number of revision slots throughout the exam period and a whole revision day on Wednesday 10th May, for which a separate letter has been sent home. This letter offers Year 10 students the chance to revise at home on this day (10th) and this day only, to gain an experience replicated during the December mock exams and again next summer. Provision will be made for students to revise in school on this day for those who need it and we have asked for the reply slip, regarding their revision plans on this day, to be returned by the end of the first week back after Easter.
Over the last three weeks we have reviewed the whole revision process with Year 10 including the preparation of a revision timetable and encouraged all students to talk with their subject teachers to gain an good understanding of the format and focus for each exam paper. Mrs Cook, our learning support adviser, has also worked through the different learning styles and a number of revision techniques to encourage all students to break free of the very limited ‘read and write notes’ approach.
Easter is a great opportunity for a well earned rest but we hope this is balanced with a period of revision. On our return after Easter there will be no homework set in the two weeks immediately before the exams commence to enable students to fully focus on their exam preparations.
I hope this information proves useful.
